When this banknote was released in 1967, the £10 denomination was uncommon due to its value. £10 in 1967 would have equivalent spending power today of over £200!

This banknote features the signature of the 24th Chief Cashier, John Standish Fforde. After serving in the RAF as a pilot during WWII, Fforde entered bank service in 1957, rising to Advisor to the Governor in 1964 before being appointed Chief Cashier in 1966, a position he held until 1970.
