This commemorative bronze medal was struck to mark the passing of Sir Isaac Newton. As well as being a notable scientist, Sir Isaac Newton served as the Master of The Royal Mint from 1699 until his death in 1727. This bronze medal is year-dated 1727 and is in Extremely Fine condition. The obverse of the medal features a draped bust of Sir Isaac Newton. The reverse features a design with a seated figure of Science with wings on her head, leaning on a table and holding a diagram of the solar system.
