A silver coin to celebrate the woman behind the little tales
The wonderful world of Miss Potter
The tale of Beatrix Potter and her world-famous works is one that continues and now, 150 years after her birth, The Royal Mint celebrates the wonderful world of Miss Potter with a series of 50p coins. It is only right that we begin the collection with a coin celebrating Beatrix herself, which will be followed by four more, each featuring one of her most memorable characters.
The work of this inspiring woman in science, conservation and publishing, not to mention her writing and illustration, deserves an artistic tribute. Experienced Royal Mint engraver, Emma Noble , has created just that. She has included elements that celebrate Beatrix as the artist behind some of the best-loved characters in children’s literature, with a nostalgic font used for the inscription. This sterling silver 50p coin has been finished to Proof standard and is presented in a stylish black case with a booklet on Beatrix’s life, loves and legacy.
