Capturing generations of royal heritage and power, The Queen’s Beasts Collection reimagines ten heraldic creatures that famously stood guard at Her Late Majesty The Queen’s coronation some 70 years ago. The latest addition to this desirable collection brings the White Horse of Hanover to life on a new bullion coin, showcasing the quality and exceptional craftsmanship that The Royal Mint is known for around the world.
The emblem of the white horse became a part of Her Late Majesty’s ancestral story when the British throne passed to George of Hanover in 1714. In Jody Clark’s dynamic design, the galloping White Horse of Hanover holds a shield depicting the three lions of England, the lion of Scotland, the fleur-de-lis of France, the Irish harp, and the Arms for Hanover.
The powerful figure of the horse is set against a beautifully detailed chainmail background on the reverse, whilst a guilloche texture surrounds Her Late Majesty’s portrait on the obverse of the coin. Struck in 999.9 fine silver, each coin is finished to The Royal Mint’s bullion standard, and is also available as a one ounce platinum edition.
