To mark 100 years since the burial of the Unknown Warrior, The Royal Mint has procured a selection of historic coins from 1920 – the year the service took place. Attended by George V, who laid a wreath on the coffin, this moving occasion saw an unknown serviceman interred in Westminster Abbey with full state honours to symbolise the nation’s unidentified war dead.

Bertram Mackennal's portrait of the king is to be found on the obverse of each of the historic coins, whereas the reverses feature the numismatic art of Leonard Charles Wyon, George William de Saulles and Jean Baptiste Merlen. Each of the coins will be special in its appearance, having aged differently from one another, ensuring that your collection is a keepsake with unique character.

Joining these historic coins is The Remembrance Day 2020 UK £5 Silver Proof Coin. Struck in sterling silver and finished to the highest standard available from The Royal Mint, it features a new design by Royal Mint product designer Natasha Preece.
