Recognised as one of Britain’s most memorable leaders during the Second World War, Sir Winston Churchill was influenced by his early experiences in the Queen’s 4th Hussars and his work as a war correspondent. Churchill received a Nobel Prize in Literature for his extensive written work and was the first person outside of the Royal Family to receive a state funeral.

This premium set brings together a gold medal, a 1965 Sovereign and a 2024 UK £2 gold Proof coin. The reverse of the £2 coin features a depiction of a younger Churchill by Natasha Seaward, a graphic designer at The Royal Mint, and the coin also features the edge inscription ‘· PAVE THE WAY FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM’, taken from one of Churchill’s famous speeches. The medal in this set also features a portrait of Churchill.
