Timothy Noad’s design for the reverse of the £5 coin features the Coronation Regalia, including St Edward’s Crown, first used for the coronation of Charles II in 1661.

The obverse (heads side) will feature the coin portrait designed by Martin Jennings, revealed in late 2022. The crowned coin portrait will appear on the commemorative coronation coins only.

The crown that features on His Majesty King Charles III’s crowned coin portrait, can be identified as the Tudor Crown. This was personally selected by His Majesty and is the same crown that can be seen as part of The King’s Royal Cypher.
