1994 Elizabeth II 'The Tercentenary of the Establishment of the Bank of England' £2 Coin
When William III and Mary II ascended the throne, England's public finances were in a precarious state, with the monetary and credit systems in disarray. To address this, the Bank of England was established in 1694 to serve as the government's banker and debt manager. It has since remained a cornerstone of the UK's financial system. In 1994, a commemorative £2 coin was issued to celebrate the Bank's 300th anniversary. The reverse design of this coin features the original Corporate Seal of the Bank of England alongside the distinctive royal cypher of William and Mary
