Girlguiding emerged in the United Kingdom in 1910, initiated by Agnes Baden-Powell at the request of her brother Robert—founder of the 1907 Scouting movement. Designed to mirror Scouting’s principles while catering specifically to girls, the organization adopted the trefoil emblem symbolizing its threefold promise: to serve the community, embrace spiritual values, and uphold personal integrity. This iconic symbol anchors a commemorative 50p coin marking Girlguiding’s 100th anniversary, celebrating its century-long legacy of empowering young women.
